Bedding down the baby's

Since I STILL have no phone to interrupt me with constant calls from friends....

I decided that it was a good day to go outside and snuggle my baby's in a warm blanket of mulch for the winter.

I thanked the blueberry's and gooseberry's for their abundant crop... and pleaded with the gooseberry's to cut down a little on the thorn production!

I thanked and blessed all my plants, and applied a nice warm layer of mulch to see them through the winter








I pulled out the last stray weeds that somehow manage to get into the planters, and then sent my baby's off to their winter sleep... hoping that they will survive the harsh ocean winter, and come back in full bloom in the spring!

The lavender never needs mulching, because it's in a place that every ones leaves blow and gather. (since I have no tree's, I can't be blamed for it! giggle)

In the spring I have to remove huge handfuls of leaves that have kept the lavender warm all winter... besides that, I think the cast iron cauldron radiates some heat during the winter, and gives the lavender ideal growing conditions!

So no more weeding or watering for the next few months, I'm going to miss having my morning coffee out on the swing, and warm evenings watering the plants! But all things must run in the cycle, and winter is part of that.

Merlin's Magic Blanket

I SWEAR these are Magic blankets!!!

I got them at Big Lots for $8!!! Just lap blankets about 5 feet long and 4 feet wide. I wanted to use one over my feet while I sit in bed reading. I got the red one.... AND FELL IN LOVE!!! It's fantastic how warm they are!!!

Unfortunately, I left it on the sofa one day, and Merlin discovered it.

And the story ends with me running out to the store again, and buying another blanket for ME... and letting Merlin have this one for his very own!




They are super soft, almost like fur, feather light, and so warm it's almost spooky!!!

Case in point, last night I slept with my window open in the bedroom... ON TOP of my comforter and sheets, with just this blanket over me... AND I WAS ACTUALLY HOT!!!!

I don't understand why? They are so light it's like sleeping under nothing... but the warmth is incredible.... almost like they are electric blankets, but they are not!!!

Now Merlin and I are die hard fans of them, and he spends the chilly fall days resting on his own little heating pad!

And those little MICE!!! I could do that and drive my kitty Merlin NUTS!!!! He would be bopping his head on the walls trying to get at them. giggle

(Hay, pay back is a bitch.... I should take a picture of my chin!!! the little fattie bit me, because I was making funny noise's at him!!!!! He's VERY controlling!!!!!)

How do you handle stress?

I'm wondering how people out there handle stress.

Myself, I tend to clean.


Like 4:30 this morning I found myself cleaning the bathroom!

I also seek out chocolate, in any form, and eat it! I've even hit canned frosting!

I talk to my friends... but only if my stress is greater then theirs, otherwise I leave them alone, and let them talk to me!

I also do a lot of worrying, have conversations with myself, and toss and turn before falling asleep

When times are really bad, I talk to my goddess.... just talk, I don't ask for help, personal problems have to be solved by myself without intervention

Celebrate the Holiday!

I am grumpy, and I have complaints!!!!

Yeah, grumpy it is, and grumpy I am!!!!

Woke up this Monday morning with a message from my daughter on neopets... asking me where I was all weekend, and why I'm not answering my phone or returning her messages.....

checked the phone, and ..... nothing.... broken... no dial tone.... nothing.... OK, now how do I call the phone company to tell them my phone is broken, when my phone is broken??

Go to the web site for Verizon..... look around for 15 minutes, find the link to report a problem (hidden it was, crafty phone company!) filled it out... needed contact phone number...MY PHONE IS BROKEN.... THAT IS MY CONTACT NUMBER!!!! (Yes, I know, but I don't have a freaking cell phone, and I'm not going to get one!!!)

So, finally just put in the broken phone number, filled in what was wrong, and hit submit.... then it starts a testing progress.... checking my phone line... and tell me..."gee it's broken!!!" it wont cost a cent to fix, and someone will be out FOUR DAYS FROM NOW TO FIX IT!!!! FOUR FREAKING DAYS!!!!!

Let me tell you all, I live in a wonderful Mobil home park, and out by the highway, EVERY SINGLE DAY, I see a Verizon truck parked in the park...sitting there... doing nothing... maybe sleeping... maybe eating.... maybe doing wire taps on everyone phone... but there... EVERY DAY!!!

Yet it going to take them 4 DAYS to get from where they park, to my house... only about a 5 second ride away!!!!!!

whatever.... so I hit "submit" to make the appointment..... and ....... NOTHING...the LINK DOESN'T WORK!!!! Refuses to load, or finish or ANYTHING!!!!!!

Now I'm fuming! Check out each neighbor, no one home... or they are dead, or in the process of killing someone... but nevertheless can't come to the door.

(it's always like that here... one of the reason's I like it so much is that it's so quiet, and no one bothers you!!)

So I get in the car, looking for a pay phone... not one to be found, so I go to the park managers office, and he lets me use the phone, and I call them....AN HOUR LATER.. after pressing 1 and saying no, and pressing 2 and saying yes.... you know the drill.... finally have the repair confirmed... again for 4 days from now!!!!

So, no phone, and if the repair guy tries to call me... well the phone is broken so good luck with that....... does it HAVE TO BE SO HARD!!!!!

WITHOUT A FULL MOON!!!!

I know your going to think this is weird.....but....

.... I've never carved a pumpkin before!!!!!

I know, weird huh.... when I was a kid, it just wasn't something our family did. I never remember even having a pumpkin on Halloween!

And when I had little kids, I occasionally let them paint one....but never attempted to carve one!!!

So this is my first!!!!
