I'm PROUD of myself

I bought a camera!!!!!

Yes, for those of you who know me..... I actually bought something for MYSELF!!!! (of course I will suffer the guilt later, but it's worth it!)

Basically it's almost the same camera I had before, A Kodak Easy Share..... worlds most SIMPLE camera to operate!!! whoooohaaaaa

But this one is as far from the other as you can possibly get.

It has 10X optical zoom!!!! (I'VE ALWAYS WANTED A ZOOM!!! ) And besides that it does tons of stuff, like it has a timer (for all those dirty pictures I want to take of myself! GIGGLE), plus it takes extreme closeups (good for e-bay) and tons of other extras!!!!!

I can't wait to go to the beach and take tons of pictures!!!!!

THANK YOU IRS FOR CORRECTING MY TAX RETURN, AND SENDING ME ALL THAT EXTRA MONEY!!!!!

PERFECT!!

Just by luck, I found the most perfect plant for my cauldron. As I've mentioned, the cauldron gets full sun all day, so I was having a hard time, besides the tiger Lilly's, finding something to withstand all that sun.

And I did. This is the Star Lithodora.

It's a perennial (means it will come back year after year) Needs FULL SUN! And is evergreen to -10 below zero!!!!!! PERFECT. And it will weep over the sides of the cauldron!!!

And even though the camera bleeds out the color, believe me the flowers are the most deepest hue of royal blue!!!!!!

For thoes of you not gardeners. Blue is the hardest color to find in flowers! Very few things come in blue.

The beginning

This is my nice new table. I already planted lettuce and spinach in the long planters on it, and Pansy's in the square planter.

Now this is the Cauldron now! In the center is wild Daylillys... bright orange with black spots, and around the rim I planted pansy's for the beginning of the spring, that will change as the year moves on.... but the Daylillys will stay all year round and keep blooming into late fall!

Love spell

A very quick, but potent love spell, say it over and over for a week, and see the results in the coming of someone you are searching for!!!!

in my mind i see you here.
in my pain i need you near.
find me, trace me,
where i be.
come here, come here,
now to me.

Quicky Spring Spells

Spirit of Darkness
Spirit of Light
Guide me to the sweet spring nights.
Winter be gone
Spring be here
Stop the Darkness
That I fear.

Sun and Moon, united to bring
The season that we call Spring
Let violets and herbs return to the Earth
Prove your powers and your worth
Apalla and Artemis, united to bring
The special season we call Spring

Moon shining oh so bright guide me through past the devilish light
Call the godesses call the sea call anyhing that can protect me.
Protection lies upon the ground raise it up and put it down.

Howling winds;
Listen twins;
Winds that frighten;
Let your hearts lighten;
The rain that falls;
And the simple squalls;
Put your powers together;
Let them be gone forever!

Let the weather here for a month be clear.
Let all energy be restored, all boredom be floored.

The Pagan origins of the Easter Bunny
Have you ever wondered where the celebration of the Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Christ acquired its unusual name and odd symbols of colored eggs and rabbits?

The answer lies in the ingenious way that the Christian church absorbed Pagan practices. After discovering that people were more reluctant to give up their holidays and festivals than their gods, they simply incorporated Pagan practices into Christian festivals. As recounted by the Venerable Bede, an early Christian writer, clever clerics copied Pagan practices and by doing so, made Christianity more palatable to pagan folk reluctant to give up their festivals for somber Christian practices.

In second century Europe, the predominate spring festival was a raucous Saxon fertility celebration in honor of the Saxon Goddess Eastre (Ostara), whose sacred animal was a hare.

The colored eggs associated with the bunny are of another, even more ancient origin. The eggs associated with this and other Vernal festivals have been symbols of rebirth and fertility for so long the precise roots of the tradition are unknown, and may date to the beginning of human civilization. Ancient Romans and Greeks used eggs as symbols of fertility, rebirth, and abundance- eggs were solar symbols, and figured in the festivals of numerous resurrected gods.

Pagan fertility festivals at the time of the Spring equinox were common- it was believed that at this time, when day and night were of equal length, male and female energies were also in balance. The hare is often associated with moon goddesses; the egg and the hare together represent the god and the goddess, respectively.

Moving forward fifteen hundred years, we find ourselves in Germany, where children await the arrival of Oschter Haws, a rabbit who will lay colored eggs in nests to the delight of children who discover them Easter morning. It was this German tradition that popularized the 'Easter bunny' in America, when introduced into the American cultural fabric by German settlers in Pennsylvania.

Many modern practitioners of Neo-pagan and earth-based religions have embraced these symbols as part of their religious practice, identifying with the life-affirming aspects of the spring holiday.

(The Neopagan holiday of Ostara is descended from the Saxon festival.) Ironically, some Christian groups have used the presence of these symbols to denounce the celebration of the Easter holiday, and many churches have recently abandoned the Pagan moniker with more Christian oriented titles like 'Resurrection Sunday.'

New Jersey Beaches

I wanted to write here a quote from a book I'm reading, by Janet Evanovich. She writes a series about a goof ball bounty hunter named Steph, who lives in NJ.

But this section of her book caught my eye, and it's sooooooo true.

So, allow me to quote Janet Evanovich:

"When you live in Jersey a beach isn't enough. People have energy in Jersey. They need things to do. They need a beach with a boardwalk, And the boardwalk has to be filled with rides and games and crappy food. Add some miniature golf. Throw in a bunch of stores selling T-shirts with offensive pictures. Life doesn't get much better then this.

And the best part is the smell. I've been told there are places where the ocean smells wild and briny. In Jersey the ocean smells of coconut-scented suntan lotion and Italian sausage smothered in fried onions and peppers. It smells like deep-fried zeppoles and chili hot dogs. The scent is intoxicating and exotic as it expands in the heat rising from crowds of sun-baked bodies strolling the boardwalk.

Surf surges into the beach and the sound is mingled with the rhythmic tick, tick, tick of the spinning game wheels and the high-pitched Eeeeeee of thrill seekers being hurtled down the log flume."

That, ladies and gentlemen is MY BEACH!!!! And all of that calls me back home each summer..... I LOVE IT!!!!!!

working around non-windy days

OK, the Cauldron is filled with soil. Barb told me it took 4 large bags..... but I bought the extra large bags and it took just one!!!!!

(that means I have 3 extra large bags of soil sitting in my car!!!!!)

I bought some RED glads to plant "under" the cauldron, so when they grow it will look like red flames coming up the sides of the cauldron.

What am I planting inside???? I have NO CLUE!!!!

It's in a FULL SUN area, so I'll have to have heat tolerant plants, but the good thing is that I got the moisture control soil.... so that saves on watering.

I know I'm having Honeysuckle growing up the poles holding it. I've already bought them, two of them.

But what's going inside it will have to wait till I can go look around the garden shops.

In the middle I want a plant that will come back year after year, but not get too big, then around the sides I'll plant annuals, so that I can change them when I want too, with my moods.

I also found a nice outdoor folding table to put my herbs on.

Unlike the old table, this one won't rot or fall apart, and my herbs will be up high enough that I can work with them without bending. COOL!!

Add one more, and more to come

One LARGE jewled FROG MAGNET!!! GIGGLE
